Travis Lamont Covington, Jr.
A May 2016 graduate of North Carolina Central University, (NCCU) with a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications, with a concentration in Broadcast Media. During my four years attending NCCU, I participated in many different media assignments, as well as working with radio & television broadcasts, recording and reporting for live performances, and journalism projects.

Since then, I've had the opportunity to gain much experience in my major.

During my senior year, I became a member of the National Association of Black Journalists Organization (NABJ) on campus. I mainly perform tasks through videography, photography, and editing videos. I also served as a reporter for stories that we covered on campus as well.
Since August 2015, I've operated alongside with NCCU sports administration. I worked as a weekly reporter for the Inside NCCU Athletics show. Edited videos and sports highlights, and controlled cameras for volleyball, football, and basketball games. Interviewed players, coaches, and students for pre/post-game interviews. Assisted sports professionals with NCCU’s video board, as well as streaming the games through webcast. I know help interns on campus who wish to perform the same tasks.
In June 2015, I interned at the WNCU- 90.7 FM radio station at NCCU. I created a sports show for WNCU radio called “The Shop”. The Shop was simply a show that displayed a variety of sports gossip among a 10,000+ student body. Students had the opportunity to come into the station and converse on any sports topic. The name symbolized the tradition of a regular day at a barbershop, such as gossip, opinions, etc. I also developed scripts for the show, including the latest of various sports updates, trivia questions and much more. Along the way, I discovered new ways to attract listeners while keeping others verbally involved.
In May 2015, I worked as a temporary radio for the AudioNet station: Channel 9 at NCCU. I also inserted DJ breaks between each song and advertisement, while developing a comfortable tone for radio while keeping listeners updated on what to hear next.

Additionally, I am a Promotions/Production Assistant and Marketer for First Class Lifestyle. First Class is an entertainment company, where I assist in overseeing all promotions and production. I am a photographer, videographer, and video editor for our entertainment events. Some of those events include promoting for upcoming parties and recording for the Budweiser Made in America Music Festival in 2015 & 2016.

I am always prepared to learn new things. One of my biggest traits are my actions to persevere. If I don't have an answer to a certain question, or a solution to a problem, I dedicate myself not to stop until I've found the answer, or have successfully finished the task.
